National Geographic Channel "Drugged: High on Marijuana"

Dec 29, 2010 -

Sunday January 16th National Geographic Channel will be airing their new special "Drugged: High on Marijuana." The series claims to examine the issue of drug use from a completely scientific/medical perspective.

"Cannabis uses visual effects and CGI to take the viewer on a trip through the human body. Using testimony from those who enjoy using the drugs, and those who have been addicted, the episode offers an insight into the realities of these drugs. Some of Britain and Americas top scientists and doctors will also explain the surprising bio-chemical effects of these popular drugs as well as their unintended consequences." The Honor of Activism

Dec 25, 2010 - Ohio NORML

One of our Ohio NORML board members wrote this poinient and poetic piece on the nature of activism itself:

THE HONOR OF ACTIVISM

Activism can not afford to tolerate ego.

Every active individual serves in a sacred capacity as a voice for those who's rights are being suppressed.

It is an honor to have the opportunity to serve the greater-good, not just oneself.

Activism requires true humility, as one who speaks for the whole, must have intentions for the whole.

Regardless of the personal passion activism requires, it is an impersonal act.

Activism is not about any, one, person. When one uses activism for personal gains,

or when activists attack other activists, they contribute to the oppression of human rights.

The government only has the power her people give her.

The people only have the power of their conscious mass, and their active voice.

We must stand shoulder-to-shoulder, or humanity's voice is impotent.

If one can not put aside one's personal issues, for human rights,

one may better serve humanity outside an active group.

Fighting within subtracts from efforts and energies that fight for the cause.

"Fighting" for legalization means working together for legalization.

If we can not be evolved enough to respect each other, how can we expect our government to respect us?

Activism belongs to no one.

As it is the right of every one.

Isn't this what the active voice should be saying?

Being a potent voice and an honorable human requires a basic impersonal respect for all humans' rights,

including each other's.
